To ensure that NSFW content on here doesn't get exposed to minors or people who do not consent to viewing of such material (as toots here can appear on other instances), we will be switching over everyone's publishing settings "always mark media as sensitive" to on to reflect the new defaults.

Don't worry, all your content is still there! If you'd like to see all sensitive content by default, you can enable it in your Settings -> Preferences at the bottom: Always show media marked as sensitive

@switter
Is there any way to make that the default for all new accounts?

@SaucedSquid We've just switched it, so it should now be the default for all including new accounts :)

@switter That will also make federation with other instances more likely.

What *is* your plan for federation? Are you going to try for being fully connected to other instances? Having media automatically marked sensitive certainly helps on that front, but I don't suppose it would be possible to set a norm of using CWs for *everything* lewd.

Guessing the most likely scenario is switter.at getting "silenced" so it doesn't appear on public timelines, but people can still interact directly.

@switter I'm on another instance; I clicked on Federated timeline and saw a nude full frontal image from a user on switter.at. Is it possible to not allow your users to uncheck "Always mark media as sensitive"?

@andryou We're going to be working on that today and tomorrow. Sensitive is currently the default but we'll definitely have to find a way of enforcing this. Thanks for reaching out though :)

@switter thanks for the follow-up! Kudos to you for creating a friendly space.

@switter Thank you for this! I had been asking for this of the other place for years. When I'm in a coffee shop, I don't want images on my screen that others at the coffee shop have a right not to see when they walk past me.

@switter and this, Furries and Gentledons, is why the Fediverse is such an amazingly pleasant place to be.

Because people here are considerate towards others.

"Hey, let's have an instance for sex workers and their friends. Also, hey let's make sure people don't get exposed to stuff they might be uncomfortable with". 👍

@switter honestly this is what I've been recommending sites like Twitter and Instagram do for years but I just use these platforms so why would they listen? 🤣

@switter maybe enable both by default for switter users?

@RestrainedElegance In case it helps, it looks like this is something you can do at the instance level. There are some KE folks I'd love to follow if this were done.

@naga ah how do you do that, I couldn’t seem to spot it in admin settings....

@RestrainedElegance That I don't know. Maybe ask the switter admin?

@RestrainedElegance Oh, I misread. It looks like the admin is changing the setting for all the users.

@switter thank you so much for doing this! We've been giving you some time to settle in.

And looking at it as consent, is good imo. <3

@switter The Switter admins are definitely going about this in a great way. Mad props for highlighting best practices so that your community members can find those settings!

@deadsuperhero Thankyou!! We've got a really awesome team behind us. One of our mods @MistressEmelia has been a huge help 😎

@switter just saw this @MistressEmelia & answers my previous question. Thank you <3
