I just wanted to wish a Happy /Blessed to those who recognise and celebrate the holiday! I've never been religious, but it's always been one of my favourites. I have very funny/fond memories of Passover.

In honour of the first day of Passover, I shall tell you a funny story of my first adult Passover with chosen friends and family. I was quite young at the time, and fairly new to drinking. Being a lightweight at Passover is dangerous.

For those of you not familiar with the holiday ritual; it involves drinking 4 whole glasses of wine. And potentially fasting before the meal. You can kinda see where I'm going with this.

Needless to say, young me was listing at the table before we were even halfway through. The host had to surreptitiously pass me some matzoh under the table to keep me from floating away.

Now, remember how I said I was a young adult and with friends? I was the youngest person there, which meant that I had the distinct honour of participating in a special part of the ritual.

This part involves the youngest person there finding a ritual piece of matzoh bread, called the afikomen, which has been hidden somewhere in the house. Cue drunk 21 year old Faye stumbling around my friend's house, looking for a piece of flat bread.

It went so badly that eventually the host had to help me to keep things from going on too long. Eventually I found it and was awarded my prize: a 50 rupee note (worth very little). I have held onto it in my wallet to this day.

The good news is that with Passover, everyone kinda ends out drunk eventually. It's a holiday with lots of drinking, eventually lots of eating, and with luck lots of good company.
