Advice please! Looking to buy #Bitcoin with cash and want to remain as #anonymous as possible. Can any of my tech/Bitcoin geniuses make a #recommendation on what kind of wallet/browser to use and how? PMs welcome; thank you!
@heatherrioux
Mycelium. You can meet up with folks and pay for bitcoin in cash. Done this a couple times - just make sure to stay the entire time until the transaction goes through (can take an hour or more). https://wallet.mycelium.com/
@lucille_red Thank you! Mycelium does not ask for any verification information, does it? Such as ID, CC numbers, etc...?
@heatherrioux They don't ask for anything like that. They actually make a point of maintaining anonymity.
@lucille_red Thank you again!
@heatherrioux
For easy use mycelium is good.
For more privacy and lower fees I'd use samurai wallet. You could go to bitcoin meetups and buy coins there and learn more about bitcoin.
Don't forget to write your seed down and store it safely.
@SpareCoins Thank you; I was looking at Samourai, but it seems it's only in Alpha testing right now. Can I still use it regardless?
@heatherrioux I can help. Text me!
@aldoantoniophotography Thank you darling, I will! So glad to see you on here! xo
@heatherrioux BTC ATMs 👍
@meetelise BTC ATMs make me a little nervous; don't they ask for your phone number for verification? If so, I feel like I might as well be using a credit card...
@heatherrioux I use a burner phone/number - just a cheap SIM card from Walgreens
@meetelise Yet another thing to look into. 😂 Thank you--I did get some Bitcoin earlier today with your help! xo
Remind me to discuss bitcoin with you on the 7th....I dabble in bitcoin....and have a few recommendations and pitfalls as well.
I’m getting the Ledger Nano S. It’s a hard wallet and for me the safest from hacks, malware and computer crashes.
@TheOnlyThing Not sure if I'm ready for cold storage just yet; only starting to dabble. What are your thoughts on Samourai?
I only heard of it in passing but I just looked it up. Had many great features in terms of fee management, anonymity, security, a really cool remote command and claims to be easy to use. They'll have an iOS version soon or maybe already do. Not sure.
I was hacked a month ago and every device at my home was infected with backdoor malware. Didn't lose money thank God but I did lose my Google Authenticator app. It was a bitch getting back in to my accounts. Lesson learned🤑
@TheOnlyThing Oh noooo! How did you get hacked??
I couldn't tell you for sure but I know I was browsing Google and my Gmail only to sense something wasn't right. One day I saw Chinese characters on a Google search. I thought I was losing my shit. Well it wasn't my imagination. Turned out to be a Trojan named Fury which unleashed some damaging virusesnon me and opened up a backdoor called a DoublePulsar Attack. Still dealing with the ramifications of it.
@TheOnlyThing Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!
All good.
@heatherrioux get a ledgar nano wallet first. You'll use two trade markets. Coinbase to put your money in and take money out. Binance to get erc20 tokens to remain anon.
@heatherrioux I’m hardly tech savvy, but check out Paxful. You can use store gift cards. I can’t remember if you have to verify identity in addition to that though.
