This is why we need #feminism. Mozart had a sister. She too was a prodigy, and in fact was established as one before he was.
But our patriarchal culture has written her out of history, very few know about her.
That's just wrong.
@NaughtyJenny @AliceWonder Clara Schumann not getting recognition is not entirely true. She was very well recognized for performing far more than thousand concerts as pianist, but not recognized as a composer. That of course was due to patriarchal culture, women had no creativity and were not meant to be creative, an opinion which sadly Clara internalized herself.
@BaerLinda @AliceWonder More the point that between her lifetime and about 20 years ago, she was in a vacuum. It was an era where female authors used Male pseudonyms too.
@NaughtyJenny @AliceWonder
Side fun fact: Clara was pictured on the German 100 DM banknote and meeting with a well paying client we called "having an appointment with Clara".
Not the type of recognition she deserved, but...
@BaerLinda @AliceWonder I love that idea. Certainly in the UK it is only recently she has moved back up the list for recognition.
@AliceWonder the Schumanns, Clara was a better composer and pianist, but only now getting recognition.
